Here are some pictures I took the past couple of days at the campsite.  Monday we had like 50 mallards hanging around our site.  And as usual Alyx is being a stinker :)

My Apologies…

•November 11, 2008 • 2 Comments

I am sorry I have not blogged in a while.  Busyness is not a good thing.  We are currently in Maggie Valley.  Mel had an extra week of vacation, so we borrowed the parents camper.  Have you ever seen Robin William’s movie RV?  Yeah, that’s us….or we may be the bad in-laws from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation…I am pretty sure I was emptying the sewage in my robe and fur hat…..just a thought.

The main reason for this post is I would like you to pray for my dad.  We recently found out he has a tumor in his bladder.  Fortunately, from its behavior it appears to be a benign tumor.  We will not know for sure until it is removed in early December.  I really am thankful that he went, cause he is stubborn a lot like me and I am a little surprised he went.  So, please pray!!  He goes to the doctor Friday and I will keep you updated, but please remember him send his name out to people who will pray for him.  His name is Francis Creel and you can email him by clicking here.

Thanks, and remember…

Peace Out…

Flashback Friday

•October 31, 2008 • No Comments

I wrote a post a couple of months back that is still my prayer today.  I thought I would share it again.  Who knows someone might need this today:

If Only…

Last night and this morning I had a moment. I don’t really know how to describe it other than I feel like God revealing himself to me in so many different ways. I think it is great that God does not only live in the context of a Bible or a church, but He is as bit alive and active as He was 2,000 years ago. Last night I had to work at the Flounder and the owner, Ken Toney, is one of the volunteers with the Coroner’s Office. I was asking him about some recent deaths and he was telling me about a couple of others when he started telling me about a recent fire in Spartanburg that took the life of a mother and her 3 year old. He made the following statement that made me think:

“If only they had a working smoke detector in their apartment, they would both be alive.”

If only….I wonder how many “if only’s” I have had in my life. I wonder how many more I will have.

Then this morning at SCC we sang a song called “From the Inside Out.” The following lyric made me think as well:

“To love You from the inside out”

If only I loved God from the inside out.

If only I showed the light of God all the time.

If only my wife saw Christ in me all the time.

If only my little girl grows up to be madly in love with God because her daddy is.

If only my little girl grows up to allow God to consume her from the inside out.

During part of the song Alyx was trying to sing and it moved me. I look forward to the day when the child God gave me sings praise and glory to His name. I pray that all my “if only’s” become “remember when’s.” I pray I live a life that I will not regret.

What is your if only?

Peace Out…

It…

I just finished reading a new book by Craig Groeschel.  It was a great book about people who have it.  You know when you walk into certain places that the people there have it or not.  The it is the Holy Spirit and unfortunately some christians are not guided by it.  Craig recounts times in his life when he was not guided by it, but by the ideal of more people and more, more, more.  Craig shares how he had it, lost it, and got it back.  I would recommend this book to anyone who would listen.

Where You At??

•October 29, 2008 • No Comments

Ok, I apologize for not blogging in a while.  I promise to start up again.  Life was a little hectic for just a little bit, like I am sure most of your lives are.  I was wanting to share with you guys the video we used at church this past Sunday showing what we did for Christmas in Action.  In case you do not know what Christmas in Action is, it is when groups of people get together a couple times a year to help fix up homes in their community that the people can not afford to fix.  Earlier this year we helped an elderly widow and I really enjoyed helping her, but this past Saturday was great.  We got to help an older couple that had been married for 61 years!!  He has survived two major heart attacks…he technically died three times…and is unable to do the upkeep on his house.  That is where we came in….here is a video to check it out:

Purpose…

We are talking about purpose this Sunday. Jonathan, Chris and myself shot a crazy retarded video yesterday that you are not going to want to miss. I wish I could show you, but I have to wait til Monday.

Clemson Let’s Bowden Step Down…

•October 14, 2008 • No Comments

I was shocked that clemson allowed Bowden to step down yesterday. I am no going to pretend I was not some what happy it happened. I have felt Bowden had gotten Clemson to the place where it was at, but he was not going to be the man to get them over the hump. I am thankful for Bowden and the hard work he has done. Clemson is a WHOLE lot better program now than when he arrived. But, in light of Bowden leaving I have a question for all of us….where in your life have you stayed too long? Where have you done the work you needed to do, but need to step out of the way? We talk about replacing ourselves at Hub City Church. Now that means I have to find someone to do my job. That is necessary if we want to continue to build disciples. If I am the only one to do what I do, then I am hindering growth. I have to be willing to step aside and let others God has breathed into to take over and do His work. Just a thought.

Peace Out…

Yesterday and Tomorrow….

•October 13, 2008 • No Comments

Hey Guys, I want to thank all of you who have been keeping up with my blog and was praying for me as I spoke for the first time yesterday. I really appreciate it. And for those who came to support me, I want to let you words can never express how much that meant to me! It is great to have friends like you!! My prayer is that I will always honour(I have decided to be British today) God and share what He puts on my heart.

This week we are starting a new series called purpose. The point of the series is what our purpose is in God. I hope you are able to come and bring a friend…or two…or three :)

Peace Out…

Catalyst and Tomorrow…

•October 11, 2008 • No Comments

Catalyst was definitely amazing. I really appreciate the Catalyst group getting together that group of people to speak into our lives. To be able to hear and be stretched from that diverse of a group of leaders was great.

I was fortunate enough to have land a free ticket from one of Jonathan’s friends. Thanks Pat.

I really came away with a sense of how we can do SO much more as the body of Christ. Jonathan asked me yesterday what effected me the most. God was definitely preparing me for this event because the days before my wife read me a quote from a book she was reading. The quote was from Ghandi and I can not shake that quote. It goes “Some men are so hungry, the only God they can see is in the form of bread.” Wow. I can’t seem to shake that quote. Then Steven Furtick was speaking and mentioned that when it looks grim and you are wondering if God is going to show up to just stay focused on what God has called you to do. He referred to a story about when he was at NGU and bought food for the guys on his hall…on a college student’s salary. Because of his willingness to serve, God started a revival on that hall. I was there when that happened. I went to NGU and remember hearing about that taking place. So, one of the biggest things I came away with was a reaffirmation of who am I feeding? Who are you feeding? Sometimes we have to meet physical needs before people can have their spiritual needs met.

Also, there was a children’s choir from Kenya….Hands down one of the most powerful moments of my life when they sang “Mighty to Save”….even the musicians were crying.

So again thank you Catalyst guys for hosting this event I really appreciate your work.

Also, tomorrow I will speaking for the first time. I am not getting nervous yet, but I will practicing the rest of the day…..I appreciate your prayers.

I will leave you with some pictures I took at Catalyst and remember….

Peace Out…

Presidential Debate…

•October 8, 2008 • 2 Comments

What a DRAG! Did anyone else watch the debate last night? I think I seriously wasted two hours of my time. After two hours of that nonsense I still have no idea who I want to vote for. Seriously, it seemed like all they did was point the finger at each other and not take any blame for anything….typical. I would really respect them more if one of them just got ticked off and just started a fight with the other. Frustrating. Don’t tell what your opponent didn’t or won’t do, tell me what YOU are going to do…and back it up!

Anyway, on a good note I got a free ticket to Catalyst. Jonathan and I are leaving early in the morning to head down to Atlanta, so remember that and continue to pray seeing how I speak this Sunday. Thanks and

Peace Out…
